/IMAGINE EDEN x NORDSTADTGALERIE

11.04.2024 - 19.05.2024

The longing for a place of perfection and harmony is deeply rooted within us. In our digitalized and urbanized world, where people spend more time in front of screens than in nature, Eden seems farther away than ever. But can we rediscover this place with the help of modern technology?

Lennart Gruensel, a Master’s graduate in »Photographic Studies« from Dortmund University of Applied Sciences and Arts, embarks on a journey to this lost paradise in his master’s thesis »/Imagine Eden«. Between concrete jungles and digital landscapes, he explores the relationship between humans, nature, and technology, together with his companion Argos, an advanced artificial intelligence. On their journey, they create visionary images that invite reflection.

Join us on this journey and discover your personal Eden!

IMPRESSIONS:

The HvO-Nordstadtgalerie fosters a dynamic link between the academic sphere of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts and the vibrant community of Dortmund's northern district. Functioning as a fluid interface, the gallery not only provides a window into university life, serving as an initial touchpoint for prospective students and academic enthusiasts, but also stands as a proactive agent in acknowledging and embracing the university's social responsibilities. Through a series of engaging public events, the Nordstadtgalerie thoughtfully engages with and brings to the forefront the pressing matters facing the local community, fostering dialogue and understanding.

The GALERI3D stands as the virtual extension of the HvO-Nordstadtgalerie. With a technologically advanced 3D reconstruction, the Nordstadtgalerie is brought to life in a digital format, allowing those unable to visit in person to experience the exhibitions online, complete with a sense of place. These virtual exhibits go beyond being simple digital replicas; they enhance the physical events with additional layers of interaction and offer visitors enriched, novel perspectives.

THANK YOU!

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all the participants and visitors. Special thanks go to Leonie Kohlenbach, whose brilliant ideas and creativity brought the exhibition design to life, transforming the space into an immersive and captivating environment. I also deeply appreciate Julian Ratay, who expertly managed the implementation of the exhibition in the GALERI3D and skillfully integrated it into Unreal Engine. Their combined efforts have significantly enhanced the overall experience and accessibility of the exhibition, making a substantial contribution to the success and impact of this project.
